Village of Libertyville

Highlands Subdivision Flood Reduction Project

Construction Updates

1/9/2024 - 95% Completion

Phase 1 and 2 improvements are fully functional for stormwater flood control purposes.  Full establishment of turf grass in the “lower bowl” and side slopes of the basin was successful during Fall of 2023. This area received over seeding, fertilizer as well as specialized weed abatement.

The softball fields will be available for use in Spring of 2024.

Please note that even into summer 2024, the lower bowl and perimeter area will be considered an active construction site, as it is within the project scope to install “sand seams” along the bottom to enhance drainage once the grass has been fully established.  This work is expected to occur in Spring of 2024 and will focus on areas in the lower bowl to assist with minor drainage. Until all work is completed (likely through summer 2024) we ask that people please stay off the perimeter grass, and thank you for your cooperation.

Any additional trees or other landscaping within the park will be assessed by the Village separately in the future after completion of the active project.
